Wickham Square has had a Tea Room for longer than living memory. In recent years the most prominent building in the Square had fallen on hard times. After a 6 month refurbishment Lilly's Tea & Coffee House opened in June 2008. The brief was simple; serve from breakfast to tea time the kind of food you remember as a child; a proper full English breakfast, a bacon door step sandwich on the freshest bread, a good helping of cottage pie, the best side of twice cooked chips and most importantly cakes - home made and lots of them. All washed down with good tea or coffee, a glass of champagne or cold beer. |
A quick chat with friends over morning coffee, a regular lunch time snack, or a celebratory feast all under the same roof, no stress, safe in the knowledge that all the food is freshly cooked using the best produce available from local suppliers delivered daily.
The 70 seat restaurant is split into 3 areas. The downstairs dining room dominated by the roaring log fire, the upstairs dining room with uninterrupted views of the whole square or the terrace popular with dog walkers and cyclists recharging their batteries after a long walk or ride. |
